Dan Kurtz及 Martina Sorbara在一場音樂節中認識後開始交往,後來結婚,2人一起創作音樂,Dragonette來自於一個叫The Fuzz的計劃.本來大家只是在地下室做些音樂來玩玩.當時的加拿大音樂市場.正流行Nickelback之類的搖滾樂團.而加拿大的 Indie團很多.有一天Martina突發其想,與其寫些呆板的愛情流行歌.,不如寫些"F*ckin Sexy"的歌曲來的有趣些,最後"Dragonette"這組 Eletro-pop團正式成立!!

Dragonette的團名是 Martina幫她的iPod取的使用者名稱,Dragonette據Martina解釋是女生野蠻的另一面. ~ 外表性感的Martina ,從小其實是個小男生(因為常和雙胞胎哥哥們玩在一起).所以她自嘲.她只有外表是女生.平常簡直就是個BOY !!

Drgaonette 和許多樂團一樣.也是聽著80年代的泡泡糖流行樂長大的,不同的是,他們並不準備讓Dragonette的音樂變成"80懷舊金曲".而是讓80年代的流行樂元素變成一支支現代流行歌曲.在尚未和唱片公司簽約前.他們獨立發行的EP就獲得了注意.

Dragonette 發行首張專輯後,曾獲得 2008年加拿大 Juno獎的提名.Dragonette希望能將加拿大的成功延續到英國.因此樂團轉往英國發展.他們曾幫許多知名樂團做開場.如Basement Jaxx / Duran Duran / Sugababes /New Order等,可惜的是,英國的成績差強人意.超人氣單曲" I Get Around"連TOP 40都沒打進去.雖然樂團對此很失望,但也只能安慰自己"或許這是上帝給的懲罰吧".不過據傳是因為這些歌曲,之前是免費下載的.所以多多少少影響到後來的唱片銷售!謠傳因為這張專輯的成績不佳,Dragonette因此遭到英國唱片公司解約,但之後,他們又和美國一間小唱片公司簽約,進軍美國(成績不詳,)但專輯中的歌曲"Get Lucky"曾被選為Dell的電視廣告歌曲!

Dragonette are a Canadian electropop group who have been active since 2005. Dragonette consists of singer-songwriter Martina Sorbara, bassist and producer Dan Kurtz (also in The New Deal), guitarist Chris Hugget and drummer Joel Stouffer.
Dragonette released a self-titled EP before being signed to Mercury Records and relocating to London, UK, where they recorded and released their first album Galore to moderate critical appreciation. A second studio album, Fixin to Thrill, is due for release in 2009.
